Emotion Regulation Skills

Emotion Regulation is all about learning to understand and balance your emotions and this blog will help you do just that in seven easy steps.

  1. PLEASE: Take care of your physical health, self-care

  2. Build Mastery: Do what helps you to feel confident, capable, and in control.

  3. Just Act: Be active and get a task done

  4. Give Myself Credit: Focus on your accomplishments

  5. Build Positive Experiences: Do things that create enjoyable emotions; have fun

  6. Opposite to Emotion: Do the opposite of urges from difficult emotions

  7. Feel Your Feelings: Let your emotions naturally come and go

By implementing these emotion regulation skills, no matter what emotion you are feeling, you will be more in control of it and able to navigate through it more easily. You are in control of your thoughts, so why not make them good ones?
